Christine and Steve Myers display their honor on behalf of the Visual Bucket List Foundation. MANSFIELD — The Association for the Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Ohio honored The Visual Bucket List Foundation Tuesday night with The AERO Special Recognition Award. Mansfield’s Steven and Christine Myers attended the awards banquet held at Deer Creek Park and Conference Center in Mt. Sterling, Ohio to accept the award. This award was established to “acknowledge either an individual or group who has shown exemplary service to the field of blindness or visual impairment. It encompasses a variety of possible nominees that include, but are not limited to, volunteers, local interest groups, employers and local community groups.” The award considers people and groups who have assisted with fund raising, transcribing, transportation, reading or administrative support. This award is a unique recognition award that can honor anyone throughout the state of Ohio who has had a positive influence on our field. This award is given annually. Staci Wills, an Ohio Teacher for the Visually Impaired, nominated The Visual Bucket List Foundation. Her son Connor Wills received a pair of Esight glasses when The Visual Bucket List Foundation paid the remainder of his $10,000 invoice back in May of 2018. Staci’s nomination said “Christine Hamilton- Myers and Steven Myers are proud parents of a daughter diagnosed with Usher Syndrome. In 2016, they developed and founded “The Visual Bucket List Foundation” which assists in providing financial assistance for resources and dream experiences for children with degenerative visual diagnoses. The motivation for this selfless endeavor is building lifelong visual memories to the recipients.” The Visual Bucket List Foundation has provided three sets of Esight glasses to children with visual impairments and is sending a local family on a dream trip to Disney World.
