MANSFIELD — Safeco Insurance is pleased to announce that Hamilton Insurance Group Inc. has been named a 2019 Change Agent and has been awarded $2,000 to donate to the Visual Bucket List Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to enabling children diagnosed with a visual impairment to cross items off of their visual bucket list and create lasting memories. The Safeco Insurance Change Agents program recognizes independent agents who have made a difference through their volunteer efforts with local nonprofits in the areas of animal welfare, community safety, food insecurity, supporting troops and veterans, and education. Safeco acknowledges that small, everyday steps can have a big impact on local communities. Christine Hamilton Myers of Hamilton Insurance Group and her husband Steven Hamilton Myers started Visual Bucket List after their daughter, Lizzy, was diagnosed at the age of 5 with Usher Syndrome Type 2A, a genetic disorder that causes hearing loss at birth and can lead to gradual vision loss. After a local news story was picked up nationally about Lizzy, family, friends and even strangers came together and provided their family with an outpour of generosity and support to help Lizzy see the world to create memories that would last forever before her vision goes dark. Her experiences even included a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Italy to meet and be blessed by the Pope. The awarded $2,000 funds will be used to ‘pay it forward’ and allow other children facing vision limitations to check off memorable experiences on their visual bucket list. Based on the social media attention their charitable efforts garnered related to health and safety, Christine Hamilton Myers of Hamilton Insurance Group was one of two winners selected nationwide for a Change Agent award.
